A data drop is more than a cable ending at a desk. The location, outlet, route back to the patch panel and port label all need to match the room and the equipment using it. We install Cat6 and Cat6A cabling for Chicago-area offices, retail locations, warehouses and commercial build-outs.

Cat6 or Cat6A: choose for the link you need
Cat6 is a practical option for many business data drops. Suitability depends on the intended network speed, installed length, equipment and testing requirements.
Cat6A supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet over a compliant channel up to 100 meters, including patch cords. It is worth reviewing for new installations with higher bandwidth requirements or a planned network upgrade. Cable size, pathway capacity, termination hardware and installation requirements also affect the choice.
We review the specification with your IT contact before installation. A higher cable category alone does not upgrade the switches, internet connection or end devices.
Define the installation and the handoff

- Labels that connect the work-area outlet to its rack-side port.

What affects the cost per data drop?
The number of drops is only part of the estimate. Route length, ceiling access, finished walls, pathway work, cable category, termination hardware, testing and work hours all affect installation time and materials.
Send a floor plan or marked-up photos, the approximate number of drops and the location of the network rack. We can then identify the work needed for a useful quote instead of relying on a generic per-drop price.

Do you install both Cat6 and Cat6A?
Yes. We quote the cable category and matching termination components for the project. Share your IT specification or planned equipment so the selection supports the intended network.
Can new data drops support PoE devices?
Yes, when the cable system, installed length and power source meet the device requirements. Send the access-point, phone or camera model and the switch or injector details so those requirements can be reviewed.
Does every installation include Fluke certification?
Certification is available when specified in the project scope. Confirm the required test and reporting level in the quote; a basic continuity check and a category certification report are different deliverables.
Can you add cabling in an occupied office?
Yes. We review ceiling and room access, the route to the rack and the timing of any interruptions. Scheduling requirements should be included when requesting the quote.
